What is Vitamin E?

Vitamin E is an essential nutrient that the body needs to support your immune system. And it helps to keep your face looking young when applied topically. Vitamin E is a fat-soluble vitamin that gets absorbed along with fats in your diet. For example, it gets stored in your body’s fatty tissue and the liver.
The main function of Vitamin E is to destroy free radicals in our body that can cause cell damage. It has antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. There are eight forms or types of Vitamin E. Two of the main ones found in most skincare products are Tocopheryl Acetate and Tocopherol.
As you read on, you will find out the benefits of using Vitamin E gel. And how applying it to your face will help keep your face looking young. The beauty industry is always evolving. Always in search of the next big revolutionary product. In this consumer world, it feels like anything cheap must not be effective. We often can be skeptical to try simple solutions. While skipping over ingredients that would not break the bank.
I have dry skin which means that I am more prone to fine lines and wrinkles. Also, I am in my 30’s now. This is why I try to incorporate as many anti-aging ingredients as possible. Age prevention is a lot easier and cheaper than age reversal. Always remember prevention over treatment. Aging is inevitable but looking and feeling good is still possible. Here is a great article highlighting all the uses of Vitamin E in dermatology.

How does Vitamin E keep your face looking young?

Vitamin E is a powerful antioxidant that helps protect your body from damage. For example, toxins in the environment and intake from certain foods create free radicals. The term “free radicals” gets used a lot in the beauty industry. And it is something that damages your body.
So, what exactly are free radicals? Science suggests they are molecules with unpaired electrons. Which rob other cells of electrons causing damage. And contributing to many illnesses and aging.
You can find free radicals in many things. Such as smoke, radiation, and chemicals from household cleaners. So, by stealing electrons from our body, they can speed up the aging process.
Antioxidants have their own electrons. When its present in skincare products, they give up their own to neutralize free radicals. This helps break a chain reaction that can affect other cells in the body. Free radicals break down our skin’s collagen. Which result in fine lines, sagginess, and dark spots.
Vitamin C is also another powerful antioxidant that does wonders for skin health. You can find the article here.

Vitamin E vs Vitamin C

Vitamin E and Vitamin C are both powerful antioxidants. And the best vitamins to keep your face looking young. Our skin is the organ that suffers the most from environmental stressors.
Vitamin E protects cell membranes and prevents damages to enzymes associated with them. While Vitamin C is most prevalent in our skin. It aids collagen production and elasticity.
Also, Vitamin C is considered safe as our body gets rid of the excess through urine. Vitamin E gets stored in our body so it can cause health issues. But we are focusing on the topical application. Using Vitamin E and Vitamin C together is most effective. Products containing both these vitamins are better at counteracting environmental stressors. As opposed to any single vitamin alone. So, look for skincare products with both ingredients present.

Vitamin E help with Glowing Skin

Vitamin E is also very hydrating. It lives in and protects cell membranes. Which form a barrier around cells to keep them healthy and hydrated. It indirectly helps skin stay moisturized and supple. Also, it’s known to reduce hyperpigmentation without affecting the melanin in general skin.

How to use Vitamin E oil to keep your face looking young?

You can either use pure vitamin E oil or a gel capsule. I personally use gel capsules on my skin and in my hair. You can easily get them in your Vitamins and supplement aisle at the grocery store. I have seen a noticeable difference in my dark circles since I started using Vitamin E for my face. It also helps replenish collagen levels and delay the aging process so it will keep those fine lines at bay. When I consistently use Vitamin E on my face before bed, my skin is softer, more even, and brighter. I also use it to moisturize my lips at night.
Although Vitamin E’s consistency gel is quite thick, I do not mind the texture. I usually apply it at night and go to bed right after. I use a pin to poke a tiny hole in the capsule to allow the gel to come out but at a slow pace for control. You can dilute it by mixing it with your favorite moisturizer or facial oil. It can help with a lot of other skin concerns too. Such as Pigmentation and scarring but these are some of my favorite ways to use it. Vitamin E benefits are abundant. And I hope you feel inspired to incorporate it into your skincare routine.
