I love how the flavor comes together in this salsa with few simple ingredients. It smells so delicious. You are going to want to eat the whole jar. I sure do everytime I make it. Some of my favorite dishes to use this salsa with are nachos, scrambled eggs and Mexican rice recipes.

Ingredients Required:

  • 2 Hot House Tomatoes
  • ½ Small Red Onion
  • ½ Small White Onion
  • 1 Bunch of Cilantro
  • 1 Lemon
  • ½ Lime
  • 1 Table Spoon of Roasted Cumin Powder
  • Dash of Salt & Pepper

How to Make the Homemade Salsa

  1. Rinse and dice tomatoes and onions.
  2. Take the cilantro leaves off the stem and roughly chop them up.
  3. Add everything into a container with a lid for easy storage in the fridge or into a bowl if you’re going to use this right away.
  4. Squeeze the lemon and lime juice on your vegetables.
  5. Add some salt and pepper.
  6. Add roasted cumin powder. To make roasted cumin powder, I add cumin seeds to a pan on medium heat. Once you smell the aroma of cumin, take the seeds out of the pan. I use a mortar and pestle to crush them info fine powder. If you do not have a mortar, then you can use a rolling pin. Be creative. It only takes few mins for the seeds to roast. Be careful not to burn them.

This recipe tastes the best if you let it marinate in the fridge for at least a day before using it. It can last up to 5 days in the fridge in an airtight container. You can also dice a small jalepeno and throw in there to make it hot.
